Bedrooms

The upstairs accommodation at Pitcombe Barn is reached by ascending a staircase in the Great Hall that is framed by a heavy, hand-turned oak balustrade. These continue around the Hall’s upper storey, forming a mighty gallery, leading the eye upwards to the ancient exposed roof timbers. A bolted gate at the bottom of the stairway protects little ones from crawling upstairs when the grownups are distracted, and also prevents furry friends from trotting up to their owners’ bedrooms!

The upstairs character of Pitcombe Barn is of the old farmhouse genre, every bedroom featuring exposed original beams, antique doors and furniture. Crisp white Egyptian cotton linens, fluffy white towels and robes await guests, neatly folded at the foot of every bed, offering the pampering comfort of a full hotel-at-home experience. All bathrooms, with their rainfall showers, are amply stocked with sustainably produced Noble Isle luxury products.

The Master Suite

The Master Suite has a particularly spacious feel, partly because of its large floorspace, but also because it is open right up to the exposed purlins and ridge roof timbers. An interior staircase leads to a galleried upper storey dressing room, which also houses a state of the art elliptical rowing machine, for those inclined to private exercise. A broad window looks northwards over gorgeous views across the hill in the direction of Bruton. The Master Suite has an Emperor bed, a range of fitted cupboards, and adjoins a spacious bathroom with a pair of freestanding sinks and rainfall shower.

The Stourhead Room

Leading off the Great Hall’s gallery, this double bedroom faces east, its window overlooking the view that stretches distantly towards the Stourhead forest estate, with its world famous gardens.

The Gable Room

This is reached via an elegant short double stairway, elevated centrally above the Great Hall gallery. Twin antique brass beds look over the main lawn, westwards, through a large double windows. The extra height lends this room a wonderful sense of elevation, with great views.

The Hadspen Room

With views towards the nearby Hadspen Estate (now home the The Newt) this elegant double bedroom has a kingsize bed and is located at the end of the short corridor, leading from the Great Hall gallery.

The Montague Room

Overlooking farmland that sweeps towards the parish of Shepton Montague in the east, this room, with its kingsize double bed, is accessible down a short corridor from the Great Hall gallery.

Annexed Barn

Set within the annexed barn, there is a ground floor bedroom with ensuite bathroom and separate exterior door access. This accommodation is great for guests who prefer not to have the challenge of a staircase.

Family Bathroom

An upstairs family bathroom, with bath and rainfall shower, is located close to the Hadspen bedroom, along the end of the corridor that leads from the gallery.

“We really appreciated the comfy beds and luxurious bedding, towels and robes.”
