Walking & Cycling
The great outdoors is accessible right from the front door, with many tracks that lead as far as you could wish, through ancient, rolling countryside. A local Ordnance Survey map of the area is provided in our Welcome Pack.
The Newt in Somerset can be reached by a brisk twenty minute walk across a field and down a lane.
The incomparable Stourhead Estate is visible from Pitcombe Barn’s lawn, and has interminable forest trails, as well as the National Trust’s most visited property: the famous Stourhead garden, with its eighteenth century temples and follies.
Other local walks take in some of the most breathtaking landscape in south west England, such as Cadbury Castle, Glastonbury Tor and Corton Denham Ridge. Also, easily within reach for a day trip, is the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, the Mendip Hills, or the Somerset Levels.
