The drawing room is both capacious and intimate at the same time. 40ft (12m) long, and adorned with lovely antique paintings, it has a baronial-style stone pillared fireplace in its centre, huge velvet-covered Conran Shop sofas, and a professional-quality Bechstein grand piano at the far end. Dual aspect, floor-to ceiling windows overlook lawns on both sides, and a large flat-screened TV allows access to a range of satellite channels, including Sky Sports. The Drawing Room is the place to flop in the cool if you are blessed with hot summer weather, but it also offers an intensely cosy refuge in winter, with its roaring fire, library of books and huge range of board games.
